WOW high temps..small overclock. HELP.

Thread Starter
I have an e8400 overclocked to just 3.3ghz and my load temps hit 51c playing crysis. I have reseated the heatsink (zalman cnps9700), re applied as5, put only a half grain of rice worth of as5 and made sure the heatsink was on tight and still no help. I built this pc a couple days ago so the as5 hasnt been in use that long. I have great cable management, 2 101 cfm fans in front, 144 on the top, 120 on the back and on the side. Im wondering if the case is too small or if the 9800gx2 is making it too hot. This is upsetting to pay this much money in cooling and cant even get average temps. Please, any advise would be highly appreciated and reps will be given. Thanks!

51c is fine. I run at about that on idle. My load is about 65c. When it gets to about 70c, then you want to think about extra cooling.

Nothing to worry about

Those are fine temps, I idle at 42c and load at 62c. Your 51c is nothing and won't damage anything. I think for the 45nm the temp safe zone cap is at 74c.

Explain.

EDIT: Made a stupid mistake, was using CT to test temp. My temps are at 43 idle 50 load under Real Temp. What program are you using hairston630?

When posting temps make sure you post ambient temps also( room temps)otherwise you might have great temps if your ambients are in the 30s°c. However if your ambients are around 15°c you need to reevaluate your cooling.
You should also post vcore and if you're on auto or not. If you are on auto try setting your voltage manually.

Ok, i need to run speedfan to get my ambients. My core is idling at 45c @ 3.45 ghz and it doesnt exceed 51c when playing a game. I havent done anything to voltages and im sure that its setting on auto.

Edit: Ok I ran a prime95 on it and the temps never got about 57c at 3.6ghz. I dropped the multi to 8 to take some heat off the proc and put it on the fsb and it seems to be idling the same with a higher clock (3.6). Im going to go a little higher. Room temperature is 74.5f

Edit2: Im at 3.7 running about 55-57c avg full load...it maxed at 59c but only lasted a couple seconds. Do these temps sound about right for my setup?

well prime 95 temps can increase as long as an hour after the tests start but those temps are just fine you can probably take the proc even higher people have hit 5ghz on the dual cores...but not with air cooling lol
