I have all seagates, had to rma my 500gb drive but the new one came within a week so I was pleased. I may not use the drives for five years but knowing they have a 5 year warranty gives me piece of mind.

I have only had one brand die on me over the years, seagate, but their rma service is great.

I have a maxtor that is 9 years old(retired last year), and Western Digital that is 8 and still running.

I've always been partial to WD for some reason. They've been pretty reliable for me. I'do have a Seagate 500G drive for storage so time will tell.

i had a sata 500gb WD caviar die, but i think it was the psu that done it, the hdd smelled like it was on fire and killed my mobo for some reason, but the cpu and ram was ok.
i got this hitachi deskstar that has been ran weeks at a time for arround 4 years, still works great!

Seagate and Western Digital Raptor. I'll Buy a seagate over a normal WD.

Maxtor, nothing but trouble.
