GTX 260 price drops - UK relevance

Thread Starter
I've been observing the drops in prices of the new GTX 260 from when it was first available here in the UK (about a week ago).

They started selling at around £330~$660 and they have been dropping in price over the week, now you can get one for as "cheap" as £250~$500.

Obviously the prices still go up to £330 depending on the different brand of 260.

Thought it was interesting for anyone in the UK looking to buy a GTX 260.

I'm HOPING nVidia will drop the prices below $300 (Lol not going to happen...) so ATI will have no choice but to lower the prices of their 4870's. ;]

I am SERIOUSLY considering a P45 board, DDR3 and Crossfire 4870's.

I am building another system for myself with a pair of Sapphire 4870's (already ordered), a set of Crucial Ballistix Tracers (DDR2).

I am deciding between the Asus P5E X38 and the DFI X38 board.

I may move my QX9650 over but will probably just grab an E8500 for it.

Seriously consider X48 as P45 will bottleneck those 4870's.

Why not go X48?

funny how a thread about GTX 260 turns into one about crossfire HD 4870.
GTX 260 had to price drop when theres another card out there that performs the same, take or give a few points for $100 less.
