hmmm...don't the hd4000 series suffer from a fan control problem? If so, then i bet that when you they fix it the cards will run much cooler and there won't be a need for this...

I think that was fixed in the latest driver. But if you are planning to oc, your chip will like you better if you get it a new heatsink.

[EDIT]: I think I was slower posting this.

Memory don't need heatsinks, what if you overclock the crap out of it don't it get hot, and why would they bother putting it on factory heatsinks then?

With two 9800GX2's you would have other things to worry about besides heat I suppose.

Cut costs, more profit margin?
Your card, your choice.

I monitor the temperature of my naked memory with my hand. They are not hot!

I'm probably will be doing something like that when I get a new video card. I still have a copper core Q6600 cooler from when my friend upgraded. And I'm pretty satisfied with the cooler mod I've done to the X1950 so far.

Oh yes it does.

The fan is slow with it's speed increases and it resets from direct control to auto control in RivaTuner randomly. There are a number of cases like this. I'm considering a BIOS flash since last night during a raid my GPU got up to 96 degrees because my settings reset to the factory default.
