USB Drives not recognized in Vistax64

Thread Starter
I got my computer about 2 months ago and hadn't even tried connecting a flash drive or my ipod to it until today. Well At first I thought it was just my ipod, then I grabbed my flash drive and when vista tries to instal it "cant find the file specified".

I had been working with my ipod for several hours trying to get it working (I followed most of the directions on this page, but none of them worked).

I assume this is a USB driver issue but I have the latest drivers for my MOBO. I have noticed though when reinstalling my motherboard drivers that it doesn't give the option of installing a USB driver.

Could this be a vista issue or a motherboard issue? The pic I attatched is of device manager. FOllowing the instructions I mentioned before, I got it to recognize the ipod as a device but itunes still doesnt recognize it.

Is your mouse or keyboard USB also? My friend had a problem similar to this. We had the run safe defaults and caused that. Then we used the optimized defaults in the BIOS and worked.

are you using the usb ports on the mother board or the cases usb ports?

Ya I use USB for mouse and keyboard and they work fine. Looks like only storage devices arent recognized correctly. And yes, its on the board itself.
