What are the symptoms of a CPU dieing? - Page 3

post #21 of 24
When I first built my current sig rig pc, I installed the asus motherboard software straight away. With the asus AI suite running if I typed anything into any window or application it would crash that window/application. As soon as I stopped AI suite from running in task manager everything ran fine.

Did you install any software or updates at/just before the problems is the point im trying to make. It could be a perfectly legitimate application screwing things up. You say it still happens after rebuilding, but are you using the same versions of software/drivers? Try older sets from when your pc wasnt having problems.

On a side note asus's AI suite is nearly impossible to properly remove. Took half hour of digging in the registery to get rid of it and stop it running.

It happens even on a clean Vista install, which is why i am ruling out a ton of things.

The CPU in my XBOX exploded... I was getting pretty addicted to this game at the time too. I suppose sometimes you can never tell. But my God this thing exploded... o_o;
