OCZ Vanquisher is an awesome HSF - Page 2

I was getting 62*c at 2.8GHz with 1.39 volts with the stock cooler. I got 61*c with my Scythe Samurai I use to run in my secondary rig. Those are really great temperatures with the stock cooler or there is a reporting error.

I was referring to my zalman 9700, I just ordered the vanquisher today.

Yep I knew that, I was just letting you know that it went on really tight, so in case you were thinking of getting it you had that knowledge.

Why are people so defensive around here? Why would you assume I thought you had one, and I was being argumentative about how tight it installed, instead of taking it as me just letting you know that it installed really tight?

Wasn't defensive, if thats how I came off I aplogize, wasn't my intention. I assumed you didn't know whether I had one or not and as such offer my opinions.

When I received it, I removed the factory applied thermal compound and I was unimpressed with the finish on the bottom of the heatsink. I whipped out my lapping supplies and got it flat, smooth and shiny. Then I applied my AS5, I know it is not the best out there anymore, and started stressing my system.

I have my rig set to 3.0GHz currently with 1.44 volts, and while running orthos I get max load temps of 54*c on both cores. That is right with 1.44 volts I am only getting to 54*c for core0 and core1. While folding both cores at these settings I only get 48*c load temps.

You know what the best thing about this HSF is? The Price Tag. You can get these shipped from ZipZoomFly for $19.99 shipped. If you go through Buy.com and use google checkout you can get it for $9.99 shipped. So you can get a cooler that will compete with the best of them for only $10, can't hardly beat that.

So if you are in the market for an air cooler, definitely give the OCZ Vanquisher a look.
Agreed, I have the same cooler with the same processor and I got it up to 3.0 at 1.26 volts and both cores stay in the mid 30's.

Running prime TT both cores got to 58 degrees at 100% full load.

I replaced the stock thermal paste with AS5 as well.

Well worth the money, I got mine for $2 dollars shipped with ZZP had it on sale for $12 bucks + $10 off from google checkout.
