Hmm. Mixed advice confuses simple brains like mine. Some say 1.368 is too much, and you're telling me to gun it! LOL..I like gunning it though
Yes, absolutely. Try an 8x 500 and see if it will run. Set your voltages back to normal and do small increases up to the highest and safest vcore you can get and see if that does it. You will also get a degree or so knocked off the proc temp as it takes some of the strain off of it and puts it on the mobo. Give that a try and let us know!

8x500 is still 4ghz though, i'm having a run with the settings blameless provided and 1.35 real volts.

That was your aim though wasnt it? (4.0)...If you can get that and it be stable then I would be very happy. If its for gaming then I dont think you'll notice much difference between 4.0 and 4.1.

Right now i'm working on 445x9 = 4ghz, so once I know the chip can handle 4ghz I'll work on tweaking to get more FSB on 500x8

K. Have you worked with the ram at all?

I messed with it on my P5N-e SLI (previous board) and had 1100mhz stable at 2.2v, but haven't messed with timings or subtimings at all, just stuck with 5-5-5-15-trfc=60 and 2T

I'm gonna monitor this with interest. I landed an E8400 on eBay the other day and can't wait to overclock it when I get home in a few months. I'll use this thread as a reference.

Awesome, chess!

They are really fun chips to overclock, what board do you have?

I haven't bought a board yet. I'm strongly considering the Asus Maximus Formula and DFI LP DK x38. I'm also toying with the idea of getting a P45 board. I know it'll bottleneck CrossFire performance, but I won't but playing games at ultra-high resolutions. I'll probably still end up with a x38 chipset. It's gonna be at least three months before I set this rig up.
