Is 4GB of RAM worth it for me?

Thread Starter
I currently have 2GB of RAM which is OC'd nicely to 1066MHz with 2.2v.

Now, is it really worth upgrading to 4GB of RAM? I tried Vista x64 on my system and it runs nicely so I have decided to make the move from XP to Vista x64.

I mostly game and browse the internet and burn discs. I do multitask but not to the extreme that some users here do.

So, is 2GB sufficient enough for my needs and Vista x64 or would 4GB of RAM (2x2GB sticks) really speed things up even more?

Thanks!

no because unless you have a 64bit version of xp your os only supports 3gig of memory.
2gig will be sufficient.

*edit* sry was in a rush and didnt read all of the post

yes you will notice a big difference by upgrading to 4gig in windows vista. I ordered an extra 2gig set when i bought my version of vista.
loading times will decrease and apps will run a lot smoother and faster. i would highly reccomend it. plus, you wont break the bank by doin it.

I just for 4 GB. I used to have 1GB. I noticed a huge jump in performance. You might not notice a huge jump, but it's always better to have RAM if you need it rather than not have RAM when you need it. If it's cheap, go for it!

4gb is real nice to have. you never really have to worry about running out of RAM. I can totally notice a difference from 2gb of RAM to 4GB. If i were you i would go for it

I had 4 GB when I first went to vista, and then I went back to XP for a bit, then I tried going back to Vista but it didn't like my sticks of RAM for some reason so I put my old 512MB sticks in, making it 1 Gig. My GOD was it slower. Get the other 2 gigs. You'll never go back.

I had 4GB of ram on XP x86, It ran just fine. But I switched to Vista x64 now and its fast. It might be worth it after all.

If you have a 64bit OS. The performance jump from 2GB to 4GB is fairly noticeable, but the jump from 4GB to 8GB isn't quite as noticeable.

Since you're using 64-bit Vista, heck yeah. Planning my new rig, 4GB was a given...2GB wasn't even an option. I'm debating whether to go 8GB!
