-HELP- e7200 on Abit IP35P

Thread Starter
Hi all!

Im total noob when it comes to overclocking CPU... So i need your help.
I have Intel c2d E7200 (with default cooler) on MB Abit IP35P, 1x 2 GB Kingston 800mhz, evga 9600gt- all in Codegen comp. case 400W...

I tried to overclock the procesor in bios just by changenig 266 to 333 (to work like 3,1 GHZ)... Its unstable and system fail in 1-2min.

Then i did same + changed core voltage (standard is 1.040 V)... I raised it little... and again same problem...

I did little research on the forum, and no one have this kind of problem- with so little overclocking... What should i do?

Thanx for help

You're probably maxing out your ram, as you overclock your ram speeds go up with it.

You need to change your RAM:FSB ratio, so drop your RAM speeds to 667mhz, that will let you overclock your CPU higher.

Every bios is different but go to your RAM speed and change it to 667mhz

It's probably at 800 and something now.

Try this:

They are basically me board. I OC'd the ip35e & v versions. Only the sb was different.

I would recommend starting at stock and increasing in small incriments. Run prime 95 for about 20 mins on the incriments with stock voltages until it is unstable. Once you find the limit on stock voltages you then increase the vcore a little bit and try again..if its unstable then a little more vcore but do not exceed the specified limit listed for the proc. Also try and drop the multiplier and use more fsb if that helps. Just dont overdo it as you dont want to damage your proc or cause degredation. Once you have it where you want it then you should run a prime95 or orthos session for 8-12 hours to verify if its REALLY stable. As others have mentioned, your ram could be a problem as well.

What was the CPU voltage you tried? Could be too low...

I did this now...

Changed:
FSB from 266 to 333
multiplier from 9.5 to 9.0
Core Voltage from 1.0750 to 1.1750
ram is now 800
_______
So core speed is now 3.0

So far windows works fine (15 min.) and im runing "Blend stres CPU and RAM" test with Orthos beta atm to test stability...
If u think i should change something (i dont want to damage cpu)... plz tell..

Good, your cpu was not getting enough volts for that speed. Also since you your running at 1:1 ratio you should stay pretty darn stable.
