I feel sorry for the family. The kid obviously suffered from some form of depression.
Cry me a river. I don't need compassion, the world needs to toughen up and accept that life goes on. 5 yrs from now, no one will remember this event or care. Same goes for if I did it.

Quit looking at this kid and seeing your wife, girlfriend, bestfriend, relatives, mom, dad, etc. He's a random kid you don't know and no one else on here does either.

What's that thing teens do these days where they suffocate themselves to get that dizzy-high effect? It has a name, thats probably what he was trying to do, trying to blow off some steam.

Not new. kids were doing that when I was in middle school. (late 80's) It was before the information age, so news travelled much slower and not quite as far.

No, the child got upset and hung himself in his bedroom. Just because all children get upset doesn't mean they all have depression. The ones that do have depression do crazy things like this.

Of course we all get upset; we don't all do irrational things because of it. When someone does something this bad, it's usually assumed that something more than "DAD WON'T LET ME PLAY WII" was the cause of it.

The parents and relatives of the kid sure as HELL will remember. Stop making stupid assumptions that you know nothing about. And don't tell us all to "stop seeing our girlfriend, best-friend, etc.". That's not your place. Just because he's a random kid that we hadn't heard of before, are we all to suddenly stop feeling emotion and ignore the situation?

YOU need to quit looking at this kid and assume that, just because you didn't know him, you shouldn't feel anything at all.

Sheesh.

Anyways, I agree with Spock. This is a horrible tragedy that was obviously preceded by some other event/happening in the kid's life. And, I find it a bit disturbing that either 1)the parents didn't realize it, or 2)that whatever was going on, the kid felt like it was such a big deal he couldn't tell someone close to him to get the help he clearly needed.

Parents just aren't meant to bury their kids. I'm not a dad yet, but I went to my friend's funeral who died in a car crash at age 13 . The parents were absolutely hysterical, and when the dad walked up to give a eulogy, he couldn't even form coherent words he was sobbing so hard. It was the saddest thing in the world, and now these parents have to undergo the same exact thing.

Think about the parents, the sister, the family. It's not the same aI couldn't even finish the article much less think something so cold hearted... Grow the hell up.

The fact of the matter is the kid needed help. He needed help long before that dispute with his parents took place. This is a tragedy that happened to some one in real life, not a TV show or a game. I ripple effect is just hitting the whole family, the feeling comes in waves. Each one more powerful than the last, and more overwhelming.
People need to learn from these situations not make ignorant comments. This is a terrible thing...
And the bold is your problem. You are associating what happened to someone else to what COULD happen to your own children.

If i had kids i'd have the same ability to turn that association off. I might LEARN from it but I wouldn't be sad about it.

The theory of Darwinism pretty much states that any kids this guy has won't last long.
