New motherboard

Thread Starter
I'm looking into ordering the Asus Maximus II Formula but I'm unsure whether my current memory will hold my oc back or should I purchase new memory . What would you guys say about my situation ? Would you advise different memory and if so which would you choose? Four gig kits please, and thanks for your help.

With your current memory you'll be limited to an overclock of 3.2Ghz given the Q9450's low 8x Multi. Overclocking your memory will aid a bit more headroom but in my experience the XMS series are very poor in terms of overclockability.

I would say go for some nice G-Skill Dimms in a 2x2GB 1066 Kit. More than you'll need, as your CPU will top out before the memory does. Then your good to go!
