Four pin & Fan controller compatability

I am planning to add my old 120mm fans to my system. But these two fan needs 4 pins. I know I can attach this to 3 pin fan slot on my mobo and it always stays at max speed; I don't like the loud noise. So, I am planning to buy a fan controller like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999047
The concern I have is will these fans also work properly with this controller?

That fan controller is only rated at .4amps and 4.8 w per channel... so that could be a problem if you have fans that draw more than that (just look at the sticker on the back). Other than that, everything else should be fine.

Depending on the fans you use, sure. Check how much they draw, it will say right on the center housing of the fan.

I'm using one of these controllers and it works great. It also comes with adaptor connectors to go from 4 to 3 pins. Right now it has 5 120mm 141 cfm delta fans on it and a 90mm delta and could handle more. Only downside to it are the very bright LED's...

So regardless of voltage, this 4 pin fan will fit to the controller 3 pin socket and able to control speed?

Edit: 0.50 A and 12 V for ADDA fan. So that controller wouldn't support it?

If the fan doesn't list what wattage it uses up, you want to multiply the amperage requirement by the voltage draw (Power formula: P=I*E)... in other words a fan that needs .50A * 12V = 6W draw

For the price, I would suggest the sunbeam rheobus... 4 channels/knobs and 20W support for only $14+shipping

Nope, that controller wouldn't support it. As far as the pins go... are you talking about a 4 pin molex (normal PSU power connector) or a 4 pin PWM? You also mentioned that you can attach these fans to the mobo via the normal 3 pin fan header...

so if you have the normal 3 pin fan header they should connect to the fan controller just fine... I dont think it will work if you have ONLY the 4 pin power connector on the fan though.

I know that the fourth pin slot, is for the sensor only. From my previous research and discussion, when I insert 4pin fan into 3pin slot in my mobo, it spins in max rpm. I'm not sure if the controller is the same case as the mobo.

That means that the fans are PWM fans ( PWM stands for pulse width modulation... aka the motherboard controls the fans speed based on temps). Any normal controller will work with those fans, it just wont utilize the last pin... but thats fine because the fan controller controls power input to get the same effect, but manually instead of automatic.
