how to decrease q6600 temps?

Thread Starter
i managed to figure out why this chip wasnt overclocking... I DIDNT UPDATE THE BIOS!!!. well right its running at 3.6ghz about 10 minutes into OCCT (400x9). every 5 minutes it jumps to 65-66C for about 30sec or so. then goes down to 55C. why is this happening?

If change to multi to 8x and increase the fsb to 450 would that give me lower temps?

currently my vcore is 1.41V on OCCT help by the vdroop mod

any suggestions guys?

i wanna stick with air cooling.

current hsf = TRUE 120

Those temps are good, but you can always lap your processor or TRUE to decrease the temp more.

Intel says 72C, but I would try to stay below 70C just to be extra safe.

If it is a G0 it isn't safe to go above 71c. For a B3 it is 62c.
