Just to let you know... Q6600s don't have pins... socket 775 has the pins on the motherboard and contact points on the CPU... makes lapping that much more idiot-proof
Also, there's no point in lapping the HSF if you don't lap the CPU as well... 2 surfaces that aren't flat are going to make as much contact as a surface that is and a surface that isn't... in the case of the TRUE, it might actually be detrimental to just lap it without doing so with the CPU as well - the TRUE was designed to have a convex base to properly fit the natural concave shape of a CPU's IHS... taking away this shape without doing so with the CPU as well would actually cause less contact than two unlapped surfaces!
