Fan controller, i need some help

Thread Starter
Hi thanks for the time in reading this thread. To the point, I have a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus fan controller, and it doesnt seem to operate all the fans. It seems to only be able to power 3 fans. Can someone tell me how to get all my fans to work on it, is it a power problem? thanks.

Are you sure you've attached the fan wire connectors properly to the fan controller?

Three possibilities pop to mind:
1) You've installed something improperly - probably the fans
2) The thing is busted and needs RMA
3) You're overloading a channel - the thing can only handle 7.0W per channel... to find out the wattage draw of a fan, multiply it's amperage by the voltage it's drawing... i.e. a .40A fan on 12V = 4.8W

so if you have 2x.40A fans on a channel that would be 9.6W and is overloading the 7.0W channel

i seemed to have no problem with the fans, but i am wondering where to place the temp sensor on my CPU to get the best reading, i mean is on the side of the chip best? on the side of the HS ? surely putting it beween the cpu and the HS is a bad idea???? how about if i drilled a small hole in the HS and slid it in there? or would that disrupt heat dissapation too much? cheers

im pretty sure i connected them properly, but for some of the fans they have these other connectors. one of my 140mm fans that doesnt work on the controller seems to work when its plugged into the controller and also a molex connector. But I can't change the rpm.
