My New Graphics Card

Thread Starter
Well I bit the bullet and finally upgraded my video card. I was running 2 7950GT KO Superclocked cards in SLI. Now I bought a new eVGA 9800GTX KO and the performance is amazing compared to my old setup. Oblivion runs at a constant 60FPS except in outdoor areas where there's a tonne of vegetation such as the Gold Coast and the Great Forest. Even then it runs very smoothly. I tried GRID at 1680x1050 with 4x antialiasing and it runs at constant 60FPS. This card rocks. Of course I had the typical fan problems at first. It idles at 60C, but after I got the latest version of RivaTuner I could set the GPU fan to 85% and the GPU temp under max load was never higher than 51C. A good card for a great price. I got it for 210 bucks. A great buy for people looking to upgrade their card but don't want to spend a crapload of money.

Yeah I had a hard time trying to decide to whether to upgrade to either the 8800GTS 512 or the 9800GTX and I was leaning towards the 9800 but then the 4800 series ATi came out. But I'm happy it's working well for ya.

In a few months or so, the price should drop some more and you can get another for some awesome SLI

What are your reasons for choosing the 9800GTX may I ask, compared to the 4850 that is?

I'm not a fan boy or anything, I'm just curious

And also, how much did you get for your old cards?

Good call on the card! I just did the same as well.

My personal reasons for choosing the 9800gtx:

1. Nvid reputation.
2. EVGA's step up program. In 90 days, I'll upgrade to a 260. If I had to sell the card outright, I'd lose alot of value.

I honestly never had any issues with nVidia but i HAVE had problems with every ATi Card i've ever used ... so I have this mental thing about using ATi it would take me alot to try another ATi...
As far as my old Video card are concerned .. Flauros is being built Tues (waiting on the parts from Newegg) and My current system Red queen will be xfered over to my Wife so she can finally get rid of the blasted Celeron 1.2GHz eMachine she is still running.... so i won't be selling the Card out of this one plus its a EVGA nVidia GeForce 6200 256 meg AGP card .. doubt i would get that much for it... probaly less for the PCI 64 Meg 4000MX PCI card i had to put in her celeron to get her off the on board video with shared memory ...
