DFI DK or LP LT? - Page 2

I really hate when someone uses the term "futureproof" ...
Why, it's pretty valid. Spout all your "18 month" spiels about doubling performance, but the fact is that USES for this extra performance comes at a slower rate. The last time I upgraded my GPU before last Christmas (which was the most recent time) was 3 years prior. Of course you will have to upgrade, we understand that. "Future proofing" merely refers to slowing the onslaught of technological advancement by buying high-end products so that the amount of time for a required upgrade to again be relevant is increased. I've found that this golden spot is somewhere between 2 and 3 years, which for the price isn't all that bad.

I'm prolly going to go with the LP DK P35-T2RS or wait for the p45. And I should be getting a quad within the next month or so. I kind of like being the minority, everybody and their mother seems to have an Asus. And I remember DFI being beastly back in the s939 days. Thanks guys.

One question though. Is it worth the upgrade from a MSI p6n platinum? Only reason I want to get rid of he p6n is because its awful for oc.

LOL! I upgraded from the P6N SLI Platinum. I hated that POS motherboard. While it was a fairly stable board, it had a FSB wall of 380 fsb or so. I'm now using it on my backup rig. I love this DFI board. I'm doing 450 fsb right now on a quad and it's rock solid stable.

well let me put it this way

4 years ago i bought a dfi LP UT NF4 SLI-DR with a crappy 3200+ and a rather expensive 7800gtx

i just now upgraded the mobo
upgraded the 3200 a year ago
and am still gonna use the 7800 and i play crysis and bioshock

if you spend money on quality components it essentially
future proofs your pc

your just not on the bleeding edge
