I'm assuming that 1x4850>1xGTX260, and also that 2x4850>1xGTX280 (I'm pretty sure it's right though).

A 4850 is still less than a GTX260, and I can still get a decent P45 board with two 4850s for less than a GTX280.

All in all Nvidia's only counter is Price drops. They simply cannot bring out any new hardware quick enough...it just cannot be done. The wheels have turned to quickly and ATI is coming hard and fast with the 4870 cards. There is nothing Nvidia can do hardware wise.

The only real thing they can do is drop prices and try there best when it comes to driver optimizations.

Personally I think this serves Nvidia right. This is what you get for being greedy. I have ALWAYS hated there card prices.

The fact is ATI have come out with a card thats Performs better and is at ( reportedly ) a MUCH nicer price tag. They have two of the most important factors in the bag. Nvidia have nothing to play with at the end of the day.

Nvidia's next move will be to try and Bash ATI one way or another or slander these new cards...Its like some immature little fight lol

So? The 4870X2 is still 1 card

You don't see people comparing single core CPU's with dual cores do you?
Why compare GPU's?

Yeah, they will come up with some new driver that is optimized for games and then have biased reviews and benchmarks.

I am very happy that ATI is coming though. It is about time that Nvidia learns what it is like to be in 2nd place.

What a great thread this was

Here we are 2 months later, massive price cuts and no new HW in sight( just refreshes).
You can get a GTX260 for $230 and the 280 for $389 today.

Those release prices were just downright sinful.

Gone are the days of $700 Nvidia cards

All I see nVidia doing is sandwiching GTX280 like they did G92 and G70.
