xigmatek 650w psu confusion

Thread Starter
I just started assembling my system and I'm still waiting for a few parts. I have the 650w xigmatek http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817815001 and can't figure out which connectors on the psu go to which rails. I've searched for pic's but no luck. The manual also recommends connecting both connectors from my 9800gtx to the same rail, but according to the specs of the psu, each 12v rails is only rated for a max of 18A. gpu spec's say it needs 26A, so wouldn't I want to connect to two different rails? I am slightly clueless here.

you should been fine has most pci e connects are feed from different rails so you should fine connecting two 6 pins to it. so it should be getting more than 26A

Hm, can't seem to find a rail summary for that one. Anyway, your gpu doesn't need 26A. It is just recommended you have at least 26A for the whole system. The gpu only needs somewhere around 11A. Like whe3ls said, don't worry about it just grab two of them and plug it in.

It's in the manual PAGE 9 (step 4) and page 7 (top 6-pin and bottom 8 pin)

You can get it Here

Yes I had read the manual and saw that picture, and assumed it was of my psu. It must be a different psu as I do not have that many connectors on mine. What I did find was that it is labeled on the psu. I hadn't paid attention to the label, thinking I'd just refer to the manual. I can't really see the label once it's mounted in the case.

Thanks for responding.

Does anyone know if the fan on the psu pushes air into the psu or pulls air out of the psu? Looking at the psu and how the fan in the psu is mounted, fan blade orientation, etc. It looks like the fan would be pushing air into the psu, but since hot air rises off the heatsinks, that wouldn't make sense to me. I have an email into xigmatek tech support as well, but was hoping to get a quicker response if anyone else already knows.

I've also included a picture of this particular psu's connectors. Is there a repository somewhere for things like this, or are these mostly unnecessary? I couldn't find a pic anywhere.

That's interesting? I'm getting this same PSU today (from newegg). The manual on the website may be of an older model, so I'll have a look as soon as it arrives.....

The fan is mounted to pull air up and push out the back (typical of most PSU's).

If this is different on the Xig 650, it would be very unusual.

All 120/140mm fans pulls air into the PSU. This is ATX standard and makes perfect sense. Radiation and passive convection are MUCH weaker than forced air. You want your PSU to leave your case and not go into your case.

If your system, randomly shutsdown while under load.... then worry. Otherwise, don't worry about the connectors/rails since it does not matter.
Once again...

I just got my Xig 650 about 30mins ago, plugged just the essentials in and ran 20 mins OCCT. The thermal control on the fan didn't even budge and the air coming out is barely warm. It's 80f here in wonderful OC.... extremely quiet PSU.

mchef: Fan blows up and out and the plugs are exactly like yours. Gonna play some more with the others but so far it's a solid PSU.
