Help with OC after memory replacement

Thread Starter
I just had to replace the memory in the PC in my sig and now when I play video games (WOW) I'm getting artifacting. I replaced it with the same speed memory so its rated to run at that speed but I cant figure out what is causing this. Everything else runs fine at the OC'd speed of 250FSB but to get the artifacting to stop while playing WOW I have to drop the FSB to 220FSB. I'm thinking I have a setting thats off but I have no idea which one...any help would be apreciated.

And yeah I know its time to build another...just dont have the funds for it atm.

The comp was completely stable for over 2 years with the old memory...no issues at all and completed prime testing. The only change that I just made was the memory because I had one of my 1gb sticks go bad. I replaced it with the same speed sticks (I had to replace both because Mushkin made me return both to get a replacement) PC 4000 so it should run just fine at 250 FSB. I'm slightly annoyed that I had a comp running at 250 FSB and the only change I made was memory and I had to down clock it to 220FSB to get it to stop artifacting. The vid card is locked down to 66/33 so I really dont understand what has happened with this thing.....please help if anyone has an idea what this could be.

If it artifacts during a 3D game then I would tend to believe that the GPU is at fault. Do you have a spare to swap out and try?

Is it prime stable now??
It could be memory voltage or timings (new sticks may have different spec/tolerance).

I agree with Dar_T though - artifacts are normally down to GPU. Can you post a screenshot of them?

Just an update...after swapping out a vid card I still had the same problem. So I took out one of my 1gb sticks and everything went back to normal. Overclocked back up to 250 FSB. Then I swapped the sticks and still everything was cool still 250 FSB. Then put the other stick back in so I had two 1gb sticks and the problem resurfaced. I then decided that it must be the MOBO acting funny...so I installed the other stick in a diff slot so it wouldnt be running in Dual Channel Mode and then both sticks were working fine. I even tried to run both sticks in Dual Channel mode in the secondary slots to no success. Whatever has happened my MOBO will not run the sticks in Dual Channel mode at 250 FSB anymore however it will run them at 220FSB. I put them in so they are not in the Dual Channel configuration for the time being and have the comp clocked up to 250 FSB now and all is stable.
