I'm confused, right now I have 4 partitions but I just want to keep 3; music, other stuff and os. Is that possible with raid0? If I set raid 0 will the files sort of like divide in "two", half in one drive and half on the other one? I rather have my music safely store because its over 30k songs.

Correctly a previous post. My end goal is speed and security.

If you want absolute speed, but also want to safely keep files, then the 3-drive setup is the best for you. Use two identical drives for RAID 0, and a third drive for storing all your music. Any form of RAID 0 is like playing russian roulette with your files.

You can't specify what goes on what drive with RAID 0, it just treats all your hard drives as one big, fast drive. You can partition it, but it will still be over the span of all drives in the array.

Got it, I'll just get the second drive as storage because I plan to spend the third drive cash for NAS. Talking about NAS can you recommend any good 500GB-1TB NAS for less than $200? Preferably less than $150.

A quick search of Newegg found me this. 500GB for $150. A lot of the NAS products they have on there don't include any drives, but are probably better overall products.

If you are confident in protection on your system RAID 0, fast and hassle free. Mabye backup extremly important files on disk or flashdrive.

So I gave everything a hard thought and the best solution was to buy a NAS which I did so now I can "backup" everything and access all the files from any computer in my network. What I want to do now is map the nas so I can access it from outside of my network with my laptop.
