Need some guidance on overclocking my Intel Conroe E6750

Thread Starter
Hello everyone!

Before I explain, here are some specifications:

EVGA 680i SLI LT Motherboard
Intel Conroe E6750

I have just went into my BIOS and changed the multiplier from Auto to 8x, which I figured is the best for overclocking. I then changed the FSBRAM Ratio to Synced; next I set the QDR to 1600.

CPU-z reports this:

CPU:
Core speed: 3200mhz
Bus Speed: 400mhz
Rated FSB: 1600mhz (which I think is QDR, right?)

Memory:
DRAM Frequency: 400mhz (I have DDR2 800, can this be upped to 800mhz?)

I am trying to learn and I am now idling at 43C (Intel Case Temp) and each core is running at 47C at idle. I think I should probably downclock this a little, but can I change the DRAM Frequency to 800mhz since I have DDR2 800? I don't see a 1:2 ratio in my BIOS. Thank you very much in advance!

PS: I have attached the CPU and Memory tabs from CPU-z below.

I have overclocked to 3.4ghz now.

FSB is 425mhz
DRAM Frequency is 500mhz

Would it be worth the downclock of the ram to 425mhz to get a 1:1 ratio or would I get better performance with my 6:7?

Also, my vcore is at 1.4v (1.368v exactly), how much higher can I raise it to be safe? I have idle temps at 38C.

Keep your ratio for higher speed.

I wouldn't go above 1.5vCore.

And post you system specs in the User CP.

SpeedFan is showing insane temperatures!

I am running prime95 for about 5 minutes and both cores get to 73C, which will be fine I guess until I get my Xigmatek HDT-S1283 on Monday.

The CPU Sensor is at 117C and each core is at 73C. Could it be that the CPU Sensor is wrong, or is it right?!

EDIT:

Also should I change my timings? They are auto set right now. I have attached a picture below.

welcome to ocn
first of all write all your's rig in sig
43 'c tcase very high
when load's cores temps maybee jump up
not sure what meant by synced is that mean 1:1 ratio
425=850 DDR that what you see in cpuz what the spd carefully
Double Data Rate
leave it 1:1 ratio any fsb higher than 400 you forced to oc ram
ocing ram not recommend what ever that ram
only if fsb depended on dram frequency on 1:1 ratio
good luck

use hw monitor or core temp both same readings

core temp:coretemp
hw monitor:hwmonitor
speed always fake don't trust him
i recommended hw monitor
ram if you get the excatly timmings in cpuz memory tab you don't need to change them
good luck

Thank you very much for the help, I think that the SpeedFan reading is fake or something unless someone can tell me otherwise. Wouldn't something get damaged if the Tcase got to 117C?

#1 cpu's got burned
#2 shut it self down
use hw monitor and it will never lit you down lol
speedfan never give full accurate temp reading
maybe some right other wrong ...

I got a BSOD while playing a Team Fortress 2 about 30 minutes in. I think it has to do with temperatures. I downclocked it to 3.25GHz until I get my new heatsink and fan. I hope that was the problem.
