E4300 to E8200.

Thread Starter
Well, over the years my E4300 has become somewhat of a bottleneck, as i moved from a 7300GS to SLI 8800GT. Even overclocking to 3.0ghz has not helped much. So i think its time to upgrade. I have my mind set on the e8200. It seems to beat the phenoms, q6600 and e4x00 series in games, and its very cheap, not to mention that it overclocks well. Will it be a worthwhile upgrade?

what's your 3dmark score, it shouldn't be bottlenecking at 3ghz

and e8200 is not that much of an upgrade. I say stick with e4300 and save the money for nehalem

E4300 at 3.0 still bottleneck? Not sure in your place, the E8400 is $40 more than E8200 in US. I would get an E8400 if the pirce is OK there.

3dmark 06 is getting 12k in 3dmark 06, and 11k with 1. It seems like a bottleneck to me. Im sure my games should be running quicker than they are aswell. (theres a slight improvement over 1 card, but im sure it should be more). The E8400 is $50 more than the 8200 here, putting it at the same price as the e6850.

At 3Ghz, you should be perfectly fine. If you were stock, I would bring that bottle neck into question, but I highly doubt that your CPU is providing much of a bottle neck.

I would save and wait for the Nehalem at the end of this year. It will provide a FAR greater boost, if being more expensive.

Your e4300 at 3.0 should be fine. May take a look at how you OC your GT. I have GT with my old E2180. I got 13K on it.

With 2x8800 GT Id say the 19" monitor is your bottleneck

If you are only getting 12K with a C2D and SLI 8800GTs, something driver-wise is amis. I would bet my rig on it. I tend to get with E6420 @ 3.4ghz and my GT OC'd, I got around 13K. Now I hit just about 15K with my setup. So my advise would be is to find the most current drivers you can find available, and OC that E4300 to about 3.4 if you can.
