Overclocking 8600GT

Thread Starter
I'm trying to overclock my 8600GT 1GB, from 575Mhz, to 600Mhz, and memory clock of 400-450, but it keeps crashing when I run tests with ATITool

Any help on this issue please?

Ok what are your load temps? Also when its crashing on Ati what about in games and other benchmarks (like 3D Mark)? We need a little more information to help you. Also remember that some cards cant really be overclocked, for example my 7600GT couldnt be clocked despite my best efforts

Hmm, no reason why you shouldn't be able to hit at least 700 Mhz / 1900 Mhz (effective) on the 8600 GT. They overclock fairly well, in fact. I have the fan on mine running at 100%, and was able to get a real good o/c out of it; and run stable 24/7. Turn the fan up (via Rivatuner) and try.

Thanks for reply, but I restarted, and raised clock little by little to 650, its stable now, with memory at 475. I haven't run 3dmarks yet, but thanks for the heads up
It's running at 56c idle though

I assume you have the DDR2 version?

Edit: Nevermind, you do have the DDR2 version. Forgot you said it's 1GB. Hmm, not sure how well those o/c then...
