Cool data center.

Thread Starter
Hello,

I need some help cooling a data center that I manage, (Its about 25' by 10'). The current temps are about 110* F. And I have a quota of about $50,000. Heres the problem now. All current high end A/C units require me to purchase a new transformer that will provide the nessary power to supply the A/C units.
The transformer will cost about $25,000. Currently I have some A/C units on the floor.. that really don't get the job done. If you guys can give me some ideas on how to do this, I can spend some money, but I'm hesitant to spend $25,000 on a transformer. Give me some ideas guys- Im desperate!

You just have to cool it to reasonable temps, not actually cold or anything, right?

You may be able to get away with some industrial strength blowers (centrifugal fans) if there are any windows in the room. Create enough airflow and the heat will be dissipated outside of the room.

You could also try somehow moving or installing more AC vents (to another system obviously) in the roof of the room if possible. Cold air goes down, hot air goes up. Hence why your AC vents on the floor aren't really doing a whole lot of good. Its just common sense .

Since the concept of aerodynamics seem a bit complicated to grasp I would recommend water cooling

Yes, yes...an overclocking website filled predominantly by teenagers and men with a lack of importance is the best place to ask how to remedy a problem that included a $50,000 budget.

Most people here just scrape by to accrue $1,500 to build a gaming rig...Jesus

good reason to have 1 rep so far.

i would recommend just venting the air to the outside as previously mentioned. many of the data centers i have seen are completely closed rooms with really crap cooling setups ( as far as the room goes ) with like one AC vent and one to remove air. just getting the hot air out so cooler air can occupy the space inside the room sounds to be a viable plan. accompany this with some massive air flow through the systems and you are set.
