Well that's my point basically, however many people are still able to sustain a high standard of living......hopefully something will be done about these prices to combat food costs. I just think that the news networks (TV, all of them are ratings whores, but CNN is the worst) are sensationalizing the economies slowed growth and not speaking on the facts. They just have different people get on and talk about how gas prices are affecting the economy without speaking on other parts of the economy. THey NEVER talk about the most important part of our economy (to us individuals that don't own businesses or large amounts of stock):

CHeck out the delta from 2007-2008. Not good, but it it's much far off the trend from the other years.

IMO the economy isn't bad right now, but we need to stabilize crude oil prices by drilling our offshore oil assets, thus increasing supply to meet market demand and lowering prices......also possible lowering the taxes on gasoline.
