Q6600 3.15GHz temps

Thread Starter
What would you say about these load temps? Idle is around 47 47 43 43 and under load with Prime95 I get this.

Do you think its safe to push it any further or should I stop there or even possibly down clock?

Stay under 65c. you have a good VID, so you should be able to go pretty far.

I try to push for 1470 FSB and I get a warning during POST saying my computer is in Safe Mode and I need to reset the FSB or the Memory Clock or whatever, is there something in the BIOs keeping me from pushing further than that?

Most BIOS's have a setting that you can set to max temp limit. If you exceed that, it will shut down your PC. Or put it in "protect mode".
I believe most boards are in "Hardware Monitior" or something named like that. It's normally the same screen you set fan speeds at. Try shutting that off, see if that helps.
As far as temps, Max ever is 72°. Normally instability hits before that though. Try to get load temps ~60°-62°, and you should be good.
Good luck

Yeah, I tried dumping the multiplier to 8 and FSB up to 1600 and still didn't help.. I'll go look for that in the BIOs right now as see if it helps. Thanks!

Don't forget to raise the GTLREF Voltages per core, i found that i could not boot @ 1600QDR or higher without putting them to 35mv+ each.

That's not even one minute of prime, what are your temps after a good few hours? I think they'd be quite a bit higher ;l

Your idles are pretty hot too, how much voltage you feeding that CPU at 3.1ghz?

Yeah, I didn't run Prim95 real long because I'm also in the process of doing other stuff. Once I get it to boot at where I want it I'll run it for a bit, but until then I just check the load temps and go from there.

Should I change the Core Memory Clock to Auto, Unlinked or Linked?

And if I do change it to Unlinked what ratio do I use?

Stick with linked until your FSB exceeds what your ram is capable of.

See my attach of my recent accomplishment.

Just try to get the RAM close to stock settings, or even a touch lower till you KNOW that your CPU is stable. Then tackle OC'ing the RAM then. It's a PITA to try to both at the same time.
