CoD4 noob seeking advice. - Page 2

Learn to keep moving all the time if you can do it. I play shotgun for the majority of the maps and i can keep moving and hugs corners well enough to almost always net me up in the top 5 in 48 player death matches. I know from experience that the hardest people to kill are the ones that can move unpredictably well at least for me.

You should just keep figuring out what weapon is best for you on average and then learn to stay with it and get better with that weapon. Like i said i've been using shotgun since CoD2 and with the added perks of extra conditioning and stopping power they only make my shotgun more deadly if someone lets me get close enough.

Bottom line though aside from learning pure accuracy learning how to move is a HUGE factor in your success. That's just my two cents.

well my advice would be to be stealthy. i mean don't run across ANY streets. don't go into really open spaces;let your teammates go in there. when they get killed and the killer is reloading, rush in and take them out. this game is all about timing

Learn to move retarded fast. Sprint everywhere. Other than that it's just getting used to aiming and getting a feel for the weapons.

One thing I was wondering, if I have an automatic weapon, should I fire in bursts or all the way?
Depends on weapon and range. The M4/P90 (arguably the most widely used weapons) can go full auto at nearly any range without consequence. Other weapons will require shorter bursts due to recoil. Protip: the accuracy rating on the weapon page does NOT reflect recoil, i.e. the MP5 has high accuracy but has crazy jerking recoil after about the 5th shot.

Quote:
Also, M14 or G3?
M14 for standard matches, G3 for hardcore (due to higher accuracy, lower noise, and hardcore being basically one hit kills for every gun).

Anything on how to survive would be helpful, seeing as I'm the first to die all the time
That's just gonna be the average until you play more. There isn't really any magical strategy in this (or any, really) FPS.

However:
If you can get good at quick, accurate bursts, then aim for the head.
Otherwise, aim for the chest and your recoil may give you a head shot.

Use the M4 or P90. The M4 is a great weapon any way you look at it. The P90 is amazing, but a bit cheap since everyone and their brother uses it. Once you unlock it get good with it to get your score up, then pick a weapon that takes some skill to use.

For your early matches, use the stopping power perk. It does wonders in regular matches (but means almost nothing in hardcore). If you're dieing quickly in your matches, use frag x3. Throw those out all over the place and rack up some random kills. Once you start learning your weapon, use bandolier and shoot at everything that moves.

Silenced Skorpion
Stopping Power
Dead silence

Surprisingly effective even at long range.
Great for rushing people and shanking.

Some weapons are better on certain maps. My favorite is Broadcast.

Problem with the skorpian is that if you run in a room with 3 people you WILL die.......it has a extremely small magazine(even with bandboiler).

Can't beat a MP5 with a silencer! If you want to get a feel for killing people then bust out the P90 silenced.

A good point is so set fire on the mouse roller(as well as right click), then you can fire off 1 bullet if you don't want to give away your posistion.

Another piece off advice is choose you favorite map(s) and play those, no point in playing a sniping map if you enjoy face to face combat and vice-versa.

Okay, I'll do that, thanks (except with a P-90 instead of the shotgun).

Ah okay. That's something I tend to do a lot.

Aha, okay. So the only way to gauge recoil is to try it out, kk. I always went by the weapons page...

I made a class with the G3 + Stopping Power; it's one-shot kill in hard core, and two shots in standard. Not as much recoil as the M14, so I like it. Thanks for the tip.

Ha, my aim could get better; I think I'll stick to chestshots.

One question about bandolier: is it +ammo per magazine, or +magazines?

"Set fire"? You mean you can alternate between semi-automatic and automatic on the same weapon?

Its just the total amount of ammo. It doesn't give you more clip space.

All good advice above. Biggest difference between average and great players is that great players are always moving, and moving erratically. Always run, always strafe as much as you can. Know the maps, know the spawn points, predict where people will be.

Also, find a server with great players on it, and play there regularly. You want to play against people who are better than you (but not crazy better). Watch the killcam and see what they are doing, and try to incorporate their ideas into your play. My KDR was about .65, then I started playing on a really tough server regularly. Three months later and I average 1.5 KDR or higher now, usually top 3 in any pub game.
