SLI failed after few months. Anyone? - Page 2

************"Second last* update*******************

Just some info for those who might', or already had this same problem.

I ended up buying a brand new mobo (eVGA 750i 'non-ftw'), and tried it on a new monitor, and a *fresh HDD (reformatted).
The problem still exist when enabling SLI, so I narrowed it down to the 9600GTs ...it's either both or one of them had some broken sli related component on the card....

So my next step, is either get another 9600gt to test, or simiply get a gtx260/216 some time next year...

Cheers.

I wish I could have seen this thread earlier.

One of your cards is bad. When you run SFR and one half of screen is bugged it most likely one card. To test this switch cards in PCIe slots and see the the other half is now bugged. If so it's one of the cards. Most likely the reason it still runs the same in WoW is becuase of the preset profile for the game. You can try nHancer to manually change profiles if doing it in nVidia's control panel doesn't work.

Also, I know you said you set all clocks back, but did you double check the PCI clock. Leave it at 100. If you raise it you actually OC the cards. No program will show this, but benchmarks do. This is only true with the 9600GT.

Thanks for the reply PizzaMan,

I had switched the card around but the "fail" part seems to stay on the bottom half (split screen rendering)..and I did restore the pcie to 100mhz...
but now I've already got rid of both of the cards...so I cant test it anymore...

Oh well....no more SLI for me
