Help PLEASE- can i use triband phone (w/o 850 band) with ATT/Cingular??

Quick layout of my problem: I want a new phone, but I'm still in contract so I need an unlocked phone (probably ebay or amazon). The problem is, can a triband phone that only runs on 900/1800/1900 bands (NOT 850) work and have good signal in the US (more specifically North Bergen in New Jersey)?

I've done a lot of research and what I've HEARD was that the 850 band is better at penetrating buildings and will give me better service indoors than the 1900 band.

I also used wirelessadvisor and in my area Cingular uses the 850/1900 bands and I'm not worried about overseas.

Also if you think I'll be ok with a triband phone, is the LG KG800 (international version of chocolate) a good phone? If not I'll take any recommendations for a good looking, good working phone from amazon or ebay (or any other major stores) for less than 150.

Thanks so much in advance
