Make sure to use a driver cleaner.

Didn't he mention in his post it happened when he was using thermaltake duo orbs on both coolers and only in the two games, grid and crysis?

I read the first page only btw.

I have had Crysis crash on me a few times with my 4850, but ONLY when it is overclocked. I can pass 700/1070 OC on ATI Tool for for 10 minutes [probably longer], but when the card is at 690/1060, it still crashes in Crysis. Also, on the very last test on 3dMark06 i get a "ATI driver has stopped responding and has recovered" message. This only happens when the card is overclocked to around 690/1060, as when the card is running at a lower OC, none of these symptoms occur.

I think it is a driver issue and would reinstall the drivers that came with the box until ATI releases an update.

I guarantee it is not a temperature issue.

should I just reinstall the bundled drivers and then the hotfix on top of them, or ignore the hotfix?

i didn't give the stock coolers much of a chance when i saw them running@70+...and the fan at 100% was a bit loud lol
It's been found normal for these cards to be running at 80c on load, ATi have stressed this enough however I can definitely agree that it's not much of a pretty number.

Have you tried the fanspeed fix? I have mine at 65% or 29%, nothing more and it seems to dramatically cool down the GPU

I meant, did you do the fan fix with the stock cooling when you had it on?

still no luck folks, i even tried the new beta drivers...

i'm starting to think perhaps it's the Power Supply? GRID And Crysis have got to be the most demanding visual games out there and maybe they're drawing a bit more power then most games? I'm running a 620 watt Corsair unit and haven't had any issues until i guess recently...

what do yall think?
