Advice on my HD arrangement

So when I built this sig rig, I had my two Seagate 320GB 7200.10 in a RAID 0 configuration. My computer recently crashed (while updating to SP1), and I got scared and decided to get a backup drive (a WD 320GB 7200). I also decided on a RAID 0 config. Well now I'm extremely upset with the performance of the RAID 0 configuration, and I want my RAID 0 back or a Raptor (basically something faster).

I was thinking about buying two of these, since they are very cheap:

Ugh, now I'm annoyed that I have 3x320GB hard drives!! I don't need all that space, I just want the speed.

What do you guys think?

Raid 1 is for data security
Raid 0 is speed
Raid 5 is a hybrid of both.

If your mobo has no raid 5 support just run 2 in raid 0 set the 3rd as a slave and backup all the important stuff to it

I wanna do that, but I feel like its such a waste to have 2x320gb HD's just for my C drive.

You could make a J.O.B.D array! Only, that doesn't offer protection.

I'd say use a pair of the 160's in RAID 0 for the OS drive, and periodically image the array to one of the 320's. Keep another 320 for storage, either as a standalone drive, or in RAID 0 with the third 320. That way every drive is used efficiently. If you don't want the storage disk in RAID, or don't want it at all, you can
a) try to get a refund for the one purchased most recently
b) sell the drives

To me it sounds like space isn't an issue... but performance is...

If I was you... I would just sell all of your hard drives and get the new
Western Digital VelociRaptors...

It is 300Gb 10,000RPM extremely fast... 2.5" laptop size hard drive in a 3.5" case / heatsink...

I myself thinking off ridding my 2x 320Gb Seagate 7200.10's to just 1 VelociRaptors...

Oh and ... I hope that is not your car... cause if it is... I will be mad jealous... hahaha

Honestly, are these velociraptors worth it? I feel like the 2x320 7200.1 are fast as *#$# in RAID 0. And how much can I get for the HD's? The WD is no more than two weeks old and the Seagates are from August 2007. (But I kinda like the Seagates).

As for the car--no it is not mine... It is my good friend's father's car. Porsche GT2 (exhaust + chip upgrade, carbon fiber additions (mirrors, wing, interior), full roll cage, pure sexiness ) Definitely my dream car!
