EFI does away with a lot of the legacy baggage that BIOS has to carry. It's also platform independent. BIOS is specific to x86 and as part of the boot process it requires the use of a CPU's real mode (16-bit mode!). Also, EFI sits completely between the OS and the hardware. Honestly, it doesn't grant any revolutionary power from the user's perspective (the driver thing is kinda cool tho). EFI is definitely superior and BIOS is definitely inferior, but not so much so that there is a pressing need to change.

does anyone else notice how long that took to boot, my macbook takes like 24 seconds, me hackint0sh desktop takes about the same, and my old acer laptop takes like 35-40 (depending on how it fells) but the msi took a freaking year.
