Yep. A Pentium D isn't sufficient enough for a 8800GT. At least a Core 2 Duo would reveal it's true power.

You need a new CPU, and if you don't have a LGA775 mobo (and are still 478), you need a new mobo.

Yeah CPU is a real bottleneck. I would get a new cpu, at least a Duel Core.
