What's Vdamper?

That is some crazy vdroop man, you could consider a pencil mod and it should stablise voltage a lot

That means its DEFINITELY unstable. Might be your RAM. You said that everything else is auto, so manually turn your RAM down to a 1:1 ratio and give that a try. Could also be that you're just at your CPU's limits. The latest batches of Q6600's really haven't been overclocking all that well . Makes me happy that I didn't actually buy one like I was thinking.

yup its definitely unstable..... Tweak FSBRAM ratio and try tightening your timings as much as you can . What timings are you runing at and please gimme timings from MemSet rather than BIOS or CPU-Z. Your Vdroop issue is solved and its true that latest batches of Q6600 havent been overclocking that well at all.... I know someone who cooked his processor on 3 Ghz in 2 hrs... but the idiot also had vcore setting to Auto.... Not the problem with your case however....

385 fsb x 9 ithe a vcore of 1.45v ( I had load line calibration on which nearly eliminate vdroop)

temps weren't an issue it was just the limit of the chip even a few mhz above the 385 took me way over 1.5v to get it stable

I set my own limit to nothing over 1.5v.....other people may have gone beyond

it nearly sent me round the twist trying to get this chip stable ,

but then maybe my baord hasn't enough tweaking options

I am eying up the Asus Rampage extreme ddr3

You may need to give the FSB and NB (GMCH) voltage a bump up, see if that helps stability. After the memory stuff...

Maybe i am n00b at OCing... but the highest i ever got a Q6600 too was 3.2 - and that wasn't stable. Although maybe it was my motherboard, plus i only had stock CPU fans - so i imagine with a larger PSU - say 800w - a nice fan or gaming case etc you could get it to 3.6ghz. Though everytime i went over 3.2 i got the Asus - overclocking failed! message
