Fastest q6600??

Thread Starter
Ok so I am buying a q6600 because of all ive seen here about people thinking the 6700 not worth the xtra cash.
I would like to know the fastest overclock of this 6600? I was hoping to get this thing to 4 before I would be happy.

I also ordered the ultra chiltec thermal electric cooler.

All comments greatly appreciated!
Thanks-

It depends on your motherboard. I run my Q6600 @ 2.667GHz that is the same as a Q6700 and I don't have any problems running anything.

The best Chipsets for Q6600 65nm are Intel P31, Intel P35, Intel P45, Intel X38, Intel X48, Nvidia 680i, Nvidia 750i, Nvidia 780i, Nvidia 790i Ultra,

Avoid Nvidia 650i (they are great with Duel but rubbish with Quad you'll find it hard to push passed 2.8GHz with 800Mhz memory but any Quad running at 2.6+ will out perform a Duel core) I hope this helps!

4Ghz is very rare on a Q6600 you'd need a very low CPU VID and watercooling and a very good mobo. I have had my CPU as high as 3.8Ghz so far, never tried higher.

Why do you need 4GHz that is just crazy. nothing requires that and you will not be able to run it 24/7 because the chip will start to lose life pretty quickly. I would stick between 2.6 - 3.2 keeping the Vcore low

I recently got my q6600 up to 3.96 finished up my volt mod was priming then my dam powersupply went poof and i lost my mobo and my volt mod .

I really hope i didnt fry anything else running to get ga-p35-s3g tm to tide me over. Poor matx board. So yes its very possible my vid is 1.275 and it was getting stable at ~1.55 with no vdroop! Now ill have to figure out how to volt mod the new board *sigh

I would stop thinking 4Ghz mate, your never likely to get that on a Q6600 for 24/7 use anyway. 3.7Ghz 24/7 is more realistic if it's a decent VID.

If you really want an easier 4Ghz on 4 cores get a QX9650.
