Should I get cooler for E8400?

Thread Starter
I just ordered my build from newegg an hour ago and I got the E8400 for the cpu. I was wondering if I should get a cooler for it? I got the Antec 1200 case so airflow is good. I wont be overclocking, so would I do fine without a cooler with a STOCK E8400?

PS-(I will eventually overclock it, and thus buy a cooler, but I'm on a tight budget so I would like to wait before I dish out more money on a cooler.)

If not overclocking you'll be fine with the stock cooler.

I recon you should, maybe something cheap like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, I think its something like $25, its good enough for some overclocking aswell =D

Ultra 120 extreme or Tuniq Tower. I always recommend aftermarket cooling.

get a cheapy aftermarket because running the 45nm series they run cooler than the 65nm series. Asus Triton 70

The e8400 cooler is hands down the cheapest pile I have ever seen. I thought my stock amd coolers sucked, then I handled the e8400 cooler. I would guess its ok at best at stock. Even if you step into a cheapo $15 cooler I personally would. I am so disappointed in intel for that cooler.

Buy him one then if you think he needs one with an E8400 @ 3.0 stock.

you should be fine with stock as long as you keep the clock stock until you plop on another cooler for overclocking.
