sgtdisturbed47, you've been called out
I will accept that call, and I hereby reject my prior statements.

It appears that the new ATI card have far surpassed mine and MANY others' expectations. Those cards have turned out to be quite the hell-raisers, reminiscent of the X1950XTX days (I wanted one of those back then after I ditched my X1800XT).

I have to say that after seeing some serious, honest, and legit reviews on the new ATI cards, I am rather impressed. It's good to have the competition back, this way the nVidia cards can start having some decent price reductions (I recently re-bought a GX2 for only $430). I am still sticking to my guns on the single 4870 vs the GX2 as the GX2 being the winner, but when it comes right down to the price/performance, that 4870 is kicking nVidia in the balls.

I am a serious nVidia fanboi, and there's not much that is going to change that, but seeing those 4870's pull some sick benchmarks, I tip my hat to ATI for bringing some great performance to the table for the first time in 3 years.

This is proof enough to change my signature.

Although I still would prefer a Nehalem/Westmere CPU over AMD.

Its not about the GPU's as said...Its about the cost. When it comes to Performance/Price ATI is actually giving Nvidia a good kick-in.

Considering that the drivers are still going to be immature for the ATI 4870 X2 thay have pulled off a great score. Nvidia pretty much has the advantage when it comes to Vantage and ATI still seems to take them out.

This is really exciting as it seems ATI is making a real effort here and it looks like Nvidia has been caught with there pants down.

Nvidia cannot match the price of ATI IMO without taking very small profit on each card...or a loss if they wanted to compete hardcore.

i remember the X1950XTX days, was my first Crossfire setup. have missed ATI since then, will glady rejoin the red team after August when the 4870X2 is in circulation.

Wow, I was not even there when the original post was made and I am less forgiving than you guys. You guys let him off the hook too easy, but I guess everyone gets to make absurd predictions sometimes.

lol i've seen some of his posts and at the end of the day, as he said, he's a diehard nvidia fan and nothing is going to change that. its his choice which team he plays for, i just let it be. its not like he's made a bad choice, until now its almost been the only choice for the top top-end gamers.

he could of been a total d*** about it but instead he took the bullet and moved on.

you guys do or say what you want to him, im not taking any part in a potential oncoming flame war. i only called him out as a joke anyway coz i remembered him saying that and thought, hey, how funny would it be if he was wrong.

He maned up and didn't hide behind a lot of crap that other forum members try.

He admitted he was wrong without flaming anyone else, why would you want to flame him for that?

Here's the deal...4 GPU's...on 2 video cards, like a 9000GX2, only better. I like what ATI is doing, but I'm not jumping on that bandwagon until I see gaming benchmarks. Lets see what the 4870x2 can do on Crysis at max details before we start dumping on nVidia. Remember, the 2900XT ambushed the 8800 Ultra on most benchmarks...only to get its ass handed to it on a silver tray when you played newer games.

nVidia's 3 cannot be cheaper than ATI's 4 because nVidia is getting poorer yields per wafer with their larger fab process.

If ATI can work on QuadFire drivers for the 4870x2, then the performance crown is theirs for this match.
