Only $500?

If this is true, then go ATi!

I'll just stop posting in the ATI threads, because I can't seem to get my point across to anyone.

Christmas? Pfft, I'll be grabbing my self an HD5870x2 by then.

I wasn't talking about 3D whatever it is either It's a jole anymore, I'm talking about game play experience. For my system in my sig rig my 4850 rocks my 3870X2. Even when I had Tri-Fire it wasn't as consistant as the 4850 is. I mean now in World In Conflict with all high and with full goodness at 1680x1050 when 3 nukes are let lose at the same time instead of dipping down to 10-15fps with my 3870X2 it doesn't go below 25fps with the 4850. So from my experience yea, the 4850 is better then my 3870X2. Even in Crysis my 4850 out performs my 3870X2.

I do however have my 4850 running 700MHz core and 1150MHz memory. but even from the specs it is obvious that the 4850 is able to challenge the 3870x2.

So yea, like i said, I can't wait till I can get my hands on one of these 4870X2's.

You have no point to make.

Ati didn't HAVE to make a 2 card chip to keep up with nvidia, they WANTED to, because its a smarter business strategy, and its the way GPUs are headed.

Look at larrabee.

The cold hard truth is that 2 chips from ATI will outperform 1 chip from nvidia, and still somehow cost less. and 4 chips in CrossfireX will scale about the same as 2 in SLI.

That is an amazing price for the HD4870X2. If the performance is really going to be 15% above two 4870s, which already are very competitive with the GTX280, AMD could easily charge upwards of $700 for this card. It is amazing that they are going to charge less than the cost of two HD4870s and it will perform better too. Kudos to AMD. They are finally going to get some much deserved respect and cash flow.

They've always sold $650 cards. What's stopping them this time? NVidia has a larger market share and the idiots at BestBuy will always recommend NVidia because that's the only company that exists to them(I used to work for GeekSquad, I would know).

Because they assume that the average consumer doesn't know anything about price/performance ratio's.
