Apple Macbook Charger question.

Thread Starter
Ok so, I am going to be going to China soon and I would like to take my Macbook with me. Now if I remember correctly, there is a voltage difference from the outlets here, US, and there, China. Now, do I have to get an adapter, or does the default Apple charger thing that you get from the box compensate for this?

I'm pretty sure you need to get an adapter.. When I went to Europe, the plugs were even way different... If I remember correctly

US uses 110v while countries that I'm thinking of uses 220v or 250v (if my memory serves correctly).

also, the plugs look different. instead of: | | you get this: o o
o

I know its hard to understand but thats the best i could do <.<

You have to buy a converter. Shouldn't be too expensive.
You will need a converter. I don't believe you need a transformer though. CHECK that through Apple's website or store though.

China uses 220v, 50hz power. Your Macbook transformer should work with that.

Type A outlets should be pretty common (type A is also used in the US). However, you will probably also find type I plugs. You could screw with other adapters, but Apple makes a kit that is not a bad deal at all for $40.

So in conclusion, the macbook itself should be able to handle the different voltage. I just need a plug so it can plug into the outlet?

Yup, the power brick itself is a switching power supply and can handle 110 or 220. You'll just need that kit that chipp linked, which looks like a great deal.
