PCI Slot Case Cooler Question

Thread Starter
Kinda in low budget is cooling department, but im thinking about OC my cpu and my SLI 9600GT. Not going to open my graphic card to add a heatsink or fan, i was thinking about adding a PCI slot case cooler. But my question is, are PCI slot case cooler efficient? Because i was looking at this:

They are not as 'efficient' as radial fans. However, that should help your temps if case temp is high.

What you linked is dual slot. I would just watch out for space problems.

all that cooler is doing is taking warm air from the area around your GPU and expelling it through the back of your case via expansion slots.

it is NOT physically cooling your GPU, it is only taking warm air around it and shoving out of your case.
this will help if you have poor airflow.

what case do you have? and do you have all the possible fans installed?

p.s. i was going to get something like this when i get a cooler for my 9800gtx only because the stock cooler does expel air from the case, and the new one would not.

you would kill your motherboard drawing that kind of power through it. That's why it goes through the PSU.

A MUCH better cooling solution is to get more outside air into your case. If you could mount a fan near your GPU on the left panel then you would get a lot of fresh, cool air to your card. Though you would need sufficient CFM from fans to exhaust out the back.

ye i have a intake fan by the gpu

the issue was getting the now hot air inside out of the system, which is why i was looking for the slot fans

the reason i was looking for one with a mboard connector was for better cable management or to use with my fan controller, but considering what u said i guess i don't have a choice but to use the molex.

thx for the assist

p.s. on that note which slot fan wud u recommend?

I have a Dynatron DB1206SPG. It's a single slot PCI case fan, but it moves a considerable amount of air for its size. They're not real expensive so you should go for it.
