Thinking of getting HD4870 or 4870 x2 over current 9800GTX but....

As title say, I use 9800GTX to play World in Conflict only so I need help whether I should buy this new HD4870 or wait until later X2 version coming out later.

I overclock my 9800GTX to about 800/2000/1150. Here's my bench result with the game.

Resolution: 1280*1024
Detail Level: Very High
Average fps: 36
Min fps: 22
Max fps: 63

If you happen to have similar setting as mine, could you please post result of the game using Very High setting in Vista DX10? Possible overclocked ATI card results. Thank you.

So what exactly is your problem? The game seems to run fine on your system. If you want a new gpu you'll be fine with a 4870 but if you think your going to crossfire in the future, you might as well just get an x2 and save some money.

no problem in anything particular.... just wanna see if I'd wisely spend the money for the new card. Also lots say it's better then my current card but not really sure if it's good for my game.

I was in your shoes but sold my Nvidia 9800GTX SSC SLI & 8800GT SLI SSC cards and I bought a HIS 4870 today from the egg. This way I think when the 4870 X2 come out it should be easier to sell vs the other Nvidia cards. I paid $375 each for my eVGA 9800GTX SSC cards and sold them for a price of $200.00 each. I never used a ATi card yet so I am looking forward when I get my card on Tuesday...

Thanks for sharing your bench. Could just just please run at 1280*1024 resolution with just a default Very High setting? I look forward to your result.

I guess you don't have the game World in Conflict. In that game, default Very High setting includes 4xAA/4xAF

I don't think you need a new video card but if you do decide to get one you should probably wait a month or so. I've read a few articles about batches of 4850/4870 not overclocking well and a few have just died for no reason.
