Lets hope that other game developers will follow suit and push DirectX 10.1 into mainstream. Glad to hear that there are still developers who aren't on Nvidia's payroll!
I don't think Blizzard, at least with their other non WoW series, has ever been on anyone's payroll. They are just interested in releasing an awesome product and then patching it to hell and back. I can't wait for this to come out.

"And as a real kicker, Blizzard has opted for Havok physics - acceleratable on both Nvidia and ATI graphics cards, but now owned by Intel - over Physx, the physics platform from Nvidia."

That's pretty lame of Blizzard. Considering PhysX is being tested, and will soon be released for ATi cards.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't plan on getting Diablo 3, and is planning on getting the 4870x2....

Yeah but I think Blizzard knows the ramifications of getting nVidia's PhsX over getting Havok which will be pretty much neutral.

Besides if they did opt for nVidia's PhsX, my guess is that nVidia would try to get Blizzard to drop the 10.1 support and only support DX10 and probably dangle the PhsX over their heads until they did it.

Good luck with that. You can get it running easily enough with WINE and some highly illegal tweaking (proprietary files) but I doubt Blizzard will make a Linux version due to how widely Linux varies.

But like I said. Easy enough to do, here is my (now 70) paladin in the Highlands.

But nVidia doesn't like that, which is why they paid Crytek to not only neglect DX10.1, but to basically remove CF support. If you look at the benchmarks ATI cards in CF have little to no effect in Crysis compared to the single cards, whereas SLI is working, you can be sure that nVidia had a hand in this.

I hope more developers will stand up to nVidia, and hopefully will opt out of TWIMTBP when their contract is up.
I don't know why any video game maker would alienate half their customer base but whatever. I doubt any maker could pay enough to cover for lost sales and as soon as people realize that the code has been tampered with, they stop caring about using it as a benchmark.

I mean, how many games are based on Crysis's engine?! How many people actually like the game?! Personally, i look for SteamEngine reviews to determine what i should buy but SteamEngine is so well optimized that every new card seems to get nearly identical numbers

What's the filename for that .gif of the hot chick?!

I'm just happy to see that Blizz is basically equal opportunity in every respect. ATI/nVidia and Mac/PC. In its own right, that's admirable. Blizz is all about making net profit. Making games for the widest audience yields the most net profit. Max net profit means more development time for them to pump out awesome games.
