Problems with my Samsung T220 LCD monitor

Thread Starter
I purchased the Samsung T220 LCD monitor this past weekend from Best buy and after setting it up at home I began to notice a few things that dont sit too well with me.

Now first off I must say that I am new to the LCD monitor world.....I have always owned CRT displays, so this is my first LCD screen.

After setting this up I began to nice that the colors toward the top of the screen were darker than the colors displayed at the bottom of the screen.
For instance, a solid orange image for the desktop background looks like a gradient image...........dark orange down to light orange.

Is this normal for all LCD displays to do this?

I went back to best buy the next day and looked at other LCD monitors in the store, spanning across all different brands and models it it looked as though it was occuring on those as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on this or have experienced this as well??

That's a common effect of the TN panels used in most budget-oriented LCDs. The other two panel types (P/M)VA and IPS don't have this problem (VA panels have a slight horizontal color shift) but cost more.

So there is no way around this I take it?
Does the Samsung 2253BW look somewhat better than the T220? What I mean is, does the 2253BW monitor not show the color change as much as the T220?

If all LCD screens using a TN panel do this......then I just want a monitor that does not show it as much

Because the 2253 is a little bit cheaper than the T220 and I might as well get that one and save money if they look the same.

Not sure about the 2253, but some TN panels have slightly better viewing angles than others. I'd check out several in store before making a decision. That's really the only way to tell if it'll suffice for you. You can also just try moving the monitor a little further away so that you're looking pretty much straight on at the entire monitor.

I'd also look at the LG L227WTG-PF.
