Agreed, anyone already with a G92 GTS, or even GT has no need for a 4850. You'd be essentially going from a somewhat high-end card from last gen, to a current gen mid-range card.

At the same price points, which of the two you should prefer *should* largely depend on what motherboard chipset you have.

It also should be noted that the 9800GTX has a much nicer cooling solution, however, it's power connector requirements are ... uh, greater.

These cards are very comparable, especially if you analyze the benchmark results properly. Which is to say, looking at the maximum playable settings across a variety of games.

Claiming that the 4850 'pwns' the 9800GTX is inaccurate at best. Now, an 8800GT ... that's a bit different. But not THAT much different, especially considering price. I'd still go with one of those if I had an nvidia sli-ready mobo, without a doubt.
Well said! FINALLY someone who gets it.

There are plenty 1080p 32" LCD TV's:

I'd personally save up a little more, and get an 4870... $300 still isn't *that* much, and I do think you need the power with a 1080p TV.
