Plenty of options for Intel, AMD, and Via.

EDIT:
http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=32#j9f2 - nevermind, this one is mobile chips only...

For the case, how about a Nexus Psile?

Yes, but all of Intel's mITX boards are socket M, which, if you look through newegg's listings, you'll see that the socket M processors are all outrageously overpriced, and probably wouldn't even perform on par with the 4850e, and would most-likely put out more heat/use more power when you factor in Intels Northbridges.

This is the cheapest one newegg has in stock, and its only clocked at 2.16ghz

Not to mention the fact that since mITX boards only support 1 DIMM slot, you're not going to be able to run dual-channel RAM, and you'll need all the memory performance you can get. Which is where AMD's integrated memory controller comes in.

More options:

Intel Celeron 220: This processor is a lot more powerful than the atom, and costs just about the same price (depending where you look). I have one of these myself and I can assure you that it is enough even for watching movies, just as long as you don't use Vista (XP runs smoothly on it).

Jetway J9F2: This board uses the 945GM chipset, and supports mobile Core2 processors. But other than that, it's as much of a desktop computer as anything else. Its pretty expensive though, and so are the mobile processors.

And for cases, this one looks as if it WAS a mac. It even has a slot load DVD writer built in.

I like that Jetway J9F2, very nice board but maybe at this point wouldn't a laptop be more worth it? Considering $200 for the board and $400+ for the other components.

Well, thanks everyone. Now I know why the Mac mini is so expensive. The prices on those "small" parts are outrageous. I think I will be sticking with a mATX since I can use LGA775 chips on it. +1 for those who helped, Chipp you get a virtual rep
