mobo fried?

Thread Starter
I was ocing q6600 on my P5N32 E SLI mobo when after some 1620 fsb,it freezed at the BIOS showing a " new CPU found, Romsip table updating- do NOT poweroff " message.usually this message closes in a few seconds, but after waiting for 10 minutes,I manually powered off the mobo. And now its just dead-no beeps, no nothing-even the GPU won't stop from posting.

Is there anyway I can recover my mobo ? I tried bios reset and all,but to no avail.I am afraid of sending the board back to asus since they can easily find out my ocing spree...

Ouch. Sounds like your mobo has become a paperweight.

Have you tried flashing the bios with a floppy? That seems like the only way to flash it right now, and your last hope. Also, when you flash it (if you can) it will erase your current bios so your OC spree should be erased (at least to us common folk.)

You could have just killed the BIOS, if you can take the bios chip out, you can actually take it somewhere to have it flashed, I know fry's does it for example.

If you do have to RMA it, just take out the battery and leave the CMOS jumper in the clear position.

Also, you can even have asus actually send you a bios chip with the latest bios on it, just so you know.
