ATI Tool Crashes When Running Artifact Scan

Thread Starter
Hey everyone.

Whenever I run the ATI artifact scanner on my Sapphire X1950GT PCI Express graphics card, it crashes within minutes. I RMA'd the first card because of this, but now the card I got from RMA is also doing the same thing. The only game that crashes at the moment is Madden NFL 08, the rest run decently.

Is this the graphics card or am I just paranoid?

Specs
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 stock clocked
OCZ GamerXstream 700w power supply
Sapphire X1950GT PCI Express
Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with SP1

Here is the logfile from the ATI Tool. It doesn't say it artifacts, just terminates.

Three things: One, have you tried reformatting? Two, is the card overheating? Three, is the card getting enough power?

1. No, I have not tried reformatting.

2. As far as I know the card is not overheating. Looking at GPU-Z the temps seem really stable at full load going up to around 50C and it idles around 40C.

3. Not really sure on the power, but I assume so with the 700w PSU. I do have the 6 pin connector plugged into the graphics card by the way.

Now that we have that cleared up, what version are you using? Try this beta version.

I'm running version 0.26.0.0.

Also when I just launched the program, it said the kernel mode driver is not loaded and will not let me run the artifact scanner.

Rebooting doesn't do anything, same problem.

Going to run the beta version now.

Ok, I just ran the beta version of ATITool and it once again crashed. This time, it actually monitored temperatures, unlike the other version which I had to launch GPU-Z.

It crashed and locked up at 58C.

Here is the logfile.

Try to overclock it with Rivatuner by using this guide.

Sorry if I didn't mention before, but I'm not overclocking the card, this is a stock card. I'm just wondering what is causing these problems.

When I run Rivatuner it says the graphics driver is not supported, but runs anyways.
Well, if it runs fine in games etc. without artifacts, then there shouldn't be a problem with the card.
