Torn. The Eee PC.

Thread Starter
Hey guys, hopefully someone can make sense of this mess I am about to write.

The Eee, Oh how I've wondered about you for so long...

anyways, here it goes.
I started college today (game design ^^) and here is the deal.

I may need a laptop on occasion to write notes (on tiny note writing tables) or to check a website for help while I'm running 3dsmax on the schools computers; however, I will not be gaming of any kind on my laptop.

Here's where my problem comes.
I have an Asus W7S-A1W, which is this. A 13.3" laptop, but its just too heavy for the 2hr commute everyday (not to mention its mobo is cracked and the screen messes up from it sometimes).

So I need your help.

Asus 7" 2g or 4g?
Asus 9"
or stick with what I have.

I'm seriously torn, if anyone has input, please tell me.

(PS: I have 4 gig flash drive too, so I'm okay in terms of "memory")

Thanks,
Me.

Have you looked at the HP Mini-notes?
http://h71016.www7.hp.com/dstore/cto...reg_R1002_USEN

I would choose that over an Eee.

if you can type on a small 7" its ok for what you are saying you need. The 9" is better though. Do you have a budget limit?

I can type fine on small keyboards.

Budget is as low as I can get it, I don't really have much use for the power of the 9"... and the HP is just ridiculous in price (No offense), only thing I can say competes is the MSI wind & a couple everex's (but I cant get them here)

and I know Eee is tried and true to perform well for the price...

My room mate is in game design (art institute of pittsburgh). We both started almost 2 years ago and he came with a laptop. He no longer uses that laptop after I set him up with desktop. Once you get pretty far into the program it really helps if you have a system that can render fast. For some of his projects he borrows my computer for the night and has his computer, my computer, and his laptop rendering for just one project.

If you have the extra money and want something just for notes I think it's a waste of money but that's just what I think. If you want something that will help you with your school work it would be more beneficial to buy a quadcore for rendering.

school has that covered, we all get our own desktops and I have one at home aswell... but paper and pencil is getting old, and I want to surf while I'm doing 3DSmax work etc, without having to minimize...

right now I'm torn between two things (after reading about mini notebooks) the MSI wind, and an iBook (yeah I know)... portability vs. performance and I just can't make up my mind. Girlfriend just bought an iBook so I'm going to check it out for a bit which will likely make up my mind, thanks all! reps given.

3-cell battery... I need the life of the 6cell and I also need it to be as light as possible... so I don't think I'm going for the acer.
